A very potter musical (AVPM)

A very potter musical is as you may have guessed a musical about Harry Potter. I was abit skeptical about it when I started watching but pretty soon I started to really enjoy it. The musical covers years 1,4 and 7 which is a weird combination I know but it really worked in terms of the story. Basically its Harry's second year at Hogwarts and he is in Mortal peril ( for a change ) although he doesn't realize it. Dumbledore and the staff of Hogwarts have decided to bring back the House cup in which one student from each house has to complete three very dangerous tasks. Little do they know that Professor Quirrel is working for the Dark Lord and has brought back the tournament on his masters orders as a plot to get Harry Potter. So along with his friends Ron and Hermione, Harry has to try and save himself and Hogwarts.

So the plot can lend itself to another Potter film, not as part of the series but one on the side as a crazy dream Harry had. However with the music added it gives the story a lighter feeling. The musical is done by a group in America called Team Starkid. The music was written by Glee's Darren Criss (Who recently appeared on Broadway in How to succeed in business without really trying) and A. J. Holmes.

You tend to love the villains more than you love the heroes in the musical. The musical plays off each characters worst characteristic for example Harry is really full of himself and Ron is always eating. Draco Malfoy played by Lauren Lopez  (yes a girl) really does steal the show in my opinion. Draco is truly one of the funniest characters to watch in the musical.

I wouldn't really advise you watch this musical unless you have either seen all the movies or read the books otherwise you won't always get the jokes. Also I wouldn't recommend for anyone under 13 because there is a little foul language and a few sexual references. However this is truly one of the funniest musicals I've seen in a while. So take a journey with Harry and his friends full of laughs, adventure and an unexpected love triangle!

Videos are available to watch on Youtube  or Team Starkid's website.

Fair warning the website contains three other Starkid musicals 1 of which is not suitable for anyone under the age of 18. The title of that musical gives it away.

I give AVPM 7 out 10
